What about Eugenie Bouchard? The Canadian was once considered a star in the tennis scene who made it to the Wimbledon final. But things have become very quiet around the 30-year-old for some time now. This year Bouchard took part in just two tournaments, and the former world number 5 is ranked 985th in the WTA rankings. It looks like the North American’s career is coming to an end.
Bouchard is now starting out in a new sport – namely pickleball. Pickle-what? This new sport is taking off, especially in the USA, and combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. Bouchard is already ranked 21st in the pickleball world rankings and recently defeated world number 3, Lea Jansen, 11:4 and 11:8. “I can’t say how happy I am,” Bouchard said of her latest win.
It looks like “Genie” has discovered a new passion. She was once considered one of the greatest talents in tennis, having already reached the Wimbledon final at the age of 20. But due to various injuries, she was denied a big breakthrough.
She once dated a fan
Nevertheless, the dashing Bouchard (more than 2 million followers on Instagram) is one of the fan favorites on the tour. In 2017, the tennis star lost a bet to a fan during the Super Bowl and then went on a date with him. An action that caused a stir far beyond the sports world.
