Real Valladolid de Baloncesto will wear a pink kit during the three games they will play in the month of October at home in the Pisuerga pavilion to show their support for the Spanish Association Against Cancer and especially to raise awareness about breast cancer, first tomorrow Saturday in front of Flexicar Fuenlabrada.
The campaign, which was already carried out in a similar way in the 2019/2020 season, was presented last Tuesday at the Valladolid City Hall with the presence of the general director of Real Valladolid de Baloncesto, Enrique Peral; the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Valladolid, Artemio Domínguez, and the councilor for Citizen Participation and Sports, Mayte Martínez.
The president of the entity recalled that the color pink has been identified since the 90s of the last century with the fight against cancer, and since then this movement has contributed to achieving “many objectives” to the point of being “more than a color.” .
Enrique Peral explained that the Valladolid team of the LEB Oro league will wear the pink kit during all the games that remain to be played in the month of October in the Pisuerga pavilion. This is the league match against Flexicar Fuenlabrada this Saturday, October 12, against Caja Rural CB Zamora in the Spanish Cup on the 22nd and on the 26th in league competition against Monbús Obradoiro.
In addition, the club will donate several t-shirts of this pink kit signed by the staff to donate to the AECC so that it can raise funds in the way that both entities decide in the coming days.
Enrique Peral pointed out that the action will be “above all” a gesture, although they are in talks with the Kappa firm to be able to market the pink shirt, although he sees it as complicated this month of October, when it can be seen on the field. The last time the campaign was carried out and went on sale was in 19/20.
Furthermore, during these next four matches, the UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto players will not wear their usual surname on their backs, but will change it to their maternal surnames or those of affected people around them to raise even more awareness about this disease.
For her part, councilor Mayte Martínez pointed out that this is “one more of the initiatives that the AECC is launching” for the city, while praising the club that contributes to “sport in Valladolid being written even with more capital letters.
