San José de Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, October 11, 2024. (@AlcaldiaCucuta) Within the framework of the Day of Indigenous Resistance, the Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta calls on the citizenship and social organizations to join the people kichwas and yukpas in a day of vindication and celebration of their cultures.
Tomorrow October 12these indigenous communities that live in Norte de Santander and Cúcuta, will raise their voices in defense of their rights.
The activity will begin at 8:00 am at the House of Culturefrom where a march will start towards Parque Santander. This tour will be a space to share and show wealth of their cultural traditions, through dances, music and crafts that reflect the diversity and strength.
This event not only seeks to make visible the struggles and demandsbut also celebrate the identity and legacy of the indigenous communities. It is an opportunity for all Cucuteños to join in a collective effort for the recognition and respect of their existence and rights.
The Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta invites citizens to participate in this significant day, where together they will demonstrate that ancient cultures must be protected and celebrated.
