<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2024/10/international-arrest-warrant-requested-against-rocky-elsom-former-president-of-narbonne/" title="international arrest warrant requested against Rocky Elsom, former president of Narbonne”>Rocky Elsom, the former Australian international and former president of Racing Club Narbonnais, is the subject of an international arrest warrant after being sentenced this Friday in his absence to five years in prison for misuse of corporate assets, indicated to AFP the lawyer for the civil party in this case. The former captain of the Wallabies and third row with 75 selections was also found guilty of forgery and use of forgery by the Narbonne criminal court, said this lawyer, Me Patrick Tabet, confirming information from the local daily l’Indépendant.

Untraceable and unreachable throughout the procedure, the former manager of Racing Club Narbonnais was also ordered to pay 705,000 euros to the civil party, in this case the club’s liquidator.

Rocky Elsom, president of the club in 2015-2016, was notably found guilty of having paid 79,000 euros to a former coach when “nothing could justify it”, or of having hired as general manager, for around 7,200 euros per month, an individual living in Australia who “never came to Narbonne” and “did not perform any services” for the club, underlined Me Tabet. The president of the court handed down a sentence higher than the prosecutor’s requests of two years in prison, he noted.

A monument of French rugby, champion of France in 1936 and 1979, Narbonne was placed in liquidation and relegated to Federal 1 in 2018, after years of financial difficulties. The Aude club is now playing in the National, after narrowly failing to access the Pro D2 last season.
