Double bangs for Färjestad.
Loss away to Örebro (2–3).
In addition, team captain Linus Johansson was helped off the ice with an injury.
It was a dark evening in Örebro for the star-studded team.
Färjestad did take the lead, scoring king David Tomasek in the second period, but then most things went wrong.
Örebro made it 2–1 and then had to play the power play for five minutes after Tomasek handed out a tackle.
Then Örebro’s Patrik Puistola made it 3–1.
Team captain injured
Färjestad reduced through Oskar Steen but ultimately lost 2–3. In the final seconds, alarming images of team captain Linus Johansson were also cabled out.
He was hit in the knee, was lying on the ice and had to be helped out of the dressing room.
Färjestad now has three straight losses in the SHL.
– We need to win a hockey match. But we play well for long periods. We had the margins with us at the beginning, now it’s a little tougher. We have to work on, says coach Tomas Mitell in TV4.
Örebro has impressed during the start of the SHL and is in sixth place after nine rounds.
– We perform well in three periods. We get relief in the third period. Smooth and fun to play today. Especially with so many people in the stands, says William Wikman.
