Nikola Storm had a wonderful start to the season at KV Mechelen. One of Malinwa‘s absolute figureheads has been decisive on several occasions and thus played a major role in the Mechelen team’s solid start. Now the blonde winger also did stunt work off the field.
Winger swings as usual
Storm is swinging again as usual at KV Mechelen. The winger has suffered a few injuries in recent years but looks fitter than ever.
He has already been decisive six times in nine appearances (3 goals and as many assists). With 14/30, Hasi’s team has made a great start, especially since KV has already fought several top teams.
Nikola himself is now 30 years old and is also partly busy with ‘what after his career’. He will surprisingly also appear in the elections in his home village of Maldegem on Sunday.
The professional footballer is in 14th place on the Ons Dorp list. His spearheads are mainly focused on road safety (which Storm is really concerned about), sufficient childcare and improving the sports infrastructure. Not illogical of course, Storm also has two young children and is of course often involved in sports.
‘I got into politics through my ex-teammate’
The fact that Storm makes the ‘switch’ came his way rather by chance. “The father of Jannes Van Hecke (former teammate) is a party leader at the Ons Dorp party. Peter contacted me. “I think you are someone who can contribute,” he said. This is how the ball is moving roles. Why not, I thought,” the KV player said HLN.
What exactly are Nikola’s personal ambitions? “I especially want the party to do well. If I personally scored less, that would of course not be nice, but my goodwill towards the party is enormous. How people become so committed…”, that’s how it will be for the family Storm, it’s exciting to wait and see what the result will be on Sunday.
