Boulazac comes out on top in money time

A on the verge of suffering a second consecutive defeat at home, Boulazac Basket Dordogne raised its head and defensive level in the money time to beat Orléans, Saturday October 12. He remains in contact with the lead of the championship. And can meditate on the need to defend hard for forty minutes. The Perigord club held back until a collective burst which derailed Orléans in the last three minutes, before Thomas Ville killed the match with three points, 38 seconds from the siren.

But before all that, it was very complicated. Despite the return of Angelo Warner, his five-match suspension has been served. Logically short of pace, the American symbolized his team’s difficult start. Mainly due to a lack of impact and risky passes which did not reach their destination. The Périgord attack was not very imaginative. The low total of assists (7 at the break compared to 13 in Orléans, 17-17 in the end) shows that the ball circulated too little. It’s the fault of the Ligiens, perfect in defense on pick and rolls. Find Ousman Krubally in the paint? It was hard. Orléans quickly took the lead (5-9, 5e), before Gabric hit two three-pointers. Boulazac was trailing 8-14.

Warner in the hard

Warner chose this moment to finally hit the Orléans defense. This woke up his teammates, including Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot, who benefited from a 3+1 to equalize (17-16, 8e). This return was only temporary, Orléans was no longer in the match and Negrobar made it clear at the Palio (19-22, 10e).

The BBD went back into under control, Niasse punished with three points (19-28, 12e). Probably intoxicated by this address, the visitors only offered shots from distance. After four consecutive failures, they saw Boulazac return without being really dangerous (23-28, 14e). Jack (25-31) then Thirouard-Samson later were the only ones to fuel the Loire scoring, so the BBD thrived on this clumsiness. And Avea equalized after capturing the offensive rebound (31-31, 16e then 36-36, 18e), a sector under Périgord control.

But Thirouard-Samson was effective from afar as well as in penetration and Orléans stood out again as the break approached (36-41, 19e). Warner finished his first period as he started it: two forced shots, a missed dribble and a lost ball.

Louis Cassier at the relaunch

So, at the BBD, who could restart the machine? Louis Cassier raised his hand. His three points, a little lucky, and his play on the basket reduced the gap (43-48, 24e). He did it again behind the arc (48-51, 25th) but Boulazac was unable to completely recover.

Babacar Mbye assisted Cassier, Orléans found themselves within range (52-53, 27e) and gave a clear push to conclude the third quarter (55-61, 30e). Boulazac clearly needed a more consistent defense. And with a little push… which was going to come from the whistles, with a big mistake from Orléans: Krubally scored five points in a row, the BBD was now a length behind (63-64, 33e).

Then went in front on two shots from Hugo Robineau (66-65, 34e). A lead quickly erased by Gabric (66-68, 35e). Because Orléans continued its three-point carnage (14/35 in the end)… Marcos Suka-Umu responded (74-74, 36e). Money time was underway… and there the BBD defended, without forgetting to lock in the rebound. Crusol missed a simple double step. Suka-Umu, one minute from time, transformed his two shots (78-76), Moore failed from afar and, with not even forty seconds to play, Thomas Ville finally turned this match around (81-76 then 85-78 at the end). final).
