The Parisians, eleventh in the championship, had only beaten the promoted Vannes (34-31) before their success against the Héraultais. They lost in their three other matches, against the impressive leader Bordeaux Bègles (46-26), under a deluge at Jean-Bouin against Toulon (10-14) then at Pau (30-16).
For its part, LOU ranks seventh before this sixth day with one more victory than Stade français. The Lyonnais are even the only ones to have brought down the terrible Union Bordeaux Bègles this season, a month ago (28-26).
