The Women’s Basketball W League has begun, and on the 12th, the Yamanashi Queen Bees, who compete in the second division, the W League Future, played their opening game away against the Tokyo Haneda Vickies. Although they showed great efforts, they started the season with a loss, losing to Tokyo Haneda, which ranked 10th last season, 65-81 (14-23, 17-17, 16-18, 18-23).

Yamanashi increased their lead with around 5 minutes left in the first quarter, and by the end of the game they were trailing by 9 points. They struggled in the midfield, but they pulled away even further in the fourth quarter.

The team’s top scorer was SG Nanami Hamanishi with 9 points. PG Honoka Tsuchida had the most assists with five.

Yamanashi will play away against Tokyo Haneda on the 13th.

This season’s W League introduced a two-division system. Divided into last season’s top eight teams and bottom six teams, 11th place Yamanashi will compete in the future.

Future is a 5 round round robin format. If you are in first place, you will be automatically promoted to the 1st division “W League Premier”. If they finish in 2nd place, they will face a replacement match with the 7th place Premier League team.
