Víctor Blanco has been in Racing for more than 10 years. Since he took charge in a critical situation back in 2013, when Gastón Cogorno and Rodolfo Molina could not finish the mandate. At that moment he took the reins to be elected by all the fans a year later. Of course, it was accompanied and supported by the title that was achieved in 2014, precisely with the flag of Diego Milito as the maximum reference. Because the Prince returned with Blanco as head of the institution and in those first six months he won the championship.
Diego Milito’s return was the most anticipated, it is clear. And it was also important for everything it generated. From him onwards, they began to turn around. TOAlthough the current president of the Academy had a lot to do with all of this and its management. More than anything in terms of economics and in teams that were often competitive. Also with the fact of always being qualified for international tournaments, something that attracts the former members of each club to come back. In fact, on the 22nd, after being champion in 2014, they played in two Copa Libertadores (2015 and 2016). That income also helped improve the teams. A chain that was always improving.
Therefore, at the moment of finalizing lists and other issues, Víctor Blanco took the opportunity to highlight one of the high points of his management in Racing. He praised what was surely a trademark of the ruling party in these 10 years. Something that has to do with the return of players who were born in the club. All this within the framework of the return of Lucho Vietto, at just 30 years old. “Today the players come to Racing, and they are increasingly younger. Case in point: Roger, Vietto, or Licha, and it is thanks to the order and image that the club has outside. Among the players and leaders, when you talk about coming to Racing, it is not It’s like in times past, they didn’t want to come,” the boss highlighted in dialogue with TyC Sports.
Blanco and a reality of his management in Racing
Beyond any opinion, what the president of the Academy said about the return of the club’s players is totally true. He highlighted those of Roger Martínez, Lucho Vietto and Licha López due to their age. The first two did so when they were 29 and 30 years old respectively. And Lisandro with 32. Milito did not enter there because the Prince returned when he was 34 and it was also another moment for the club since Blanco’s management was just beginning.
But these were not the only ones who returned during Blanco’s time in Racing. The most notable, without a doubt, was that of Rodrigo de Paul when he was still a kid. He was sold to Valencia and since he was not completely comfortable in Spain and could not quite settle in, he returned for six months to play in the 2016 Copa Libertadores. In another format, because it was given as a loan and for something specific, but happened. Maxi Moralez also made a comeback, giving himself the pleasure of winning a title: the Boca final in 2023. A trademark that he showed off as the Elections approached.
