Den Helder – <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/05/badminton-daytime-at-msv-zeemacht/” title=”Badminton Daytime at MSV Zeemacht”>Zeemacht has successfully concluded the first block of the badminton competition with a convincing 6-2 victory over leader IJmond. The foundation for this victory was laid in the singles matches, which were all won. This was the first win for the team in the new season.
In the men’s doubles, Marco de Boer and Martijn Laan had a hard time against their strong opponents. They lost the match 21-11 and 21-14. Fortunately, Marina van den Berg and Susan Hazelaar managed to equalize the score in the women’s doubles. They won after an exciting battle 22-20 and 21-17.
Wilbert van den Berg recorded a solid victory with 21-17 and 21-13. Martijn had more difficulty with his opponent, but still managed to win in two games: 21-19 and 21-16. Susan also played a strong game and won 21-14 and 21-18.
Third set
Marina had to work a little harder for her victory. After winning the first game (21-17), she lost the second with the same scores. In the third game it remained exciting until the end, but in the end she won 26-24.
The mixed doubles of Marina and Wilbert were then won convincingly with 21-9 and 21-11, meaning Navy took a 6-1 lead. Susan and Marco lost their last match 22-20 and 21-14, but that could not spoil the celebration.
Zaandam
The competition continues in four weeks with a home match against Matchpoint from Zaandam on Sunday, November 10.
