How Baggio knew Guardiola was going to become a top coach

Italy legend Roberto Baggio appeared as a surprise guest alongside Pep Guardiola on television on Sunday night, where he spoke about his pride of what the Man City manager has come to achieve in his career as well as the early signs that he was going to go on to become a top coach.

Guardiola was a guest on What’s the weather like? on Sunday evening, and Baggio appeared via video feed to surprise his former Brescia teammate.

In his cameo appearance, Baggio revealed that he follows all of Manchester City’s results because of their coach, as he did when Guardiola was at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

“I’ve always followed Guardiola, I am so happy for all of his successes, he deserves everything.

“Yes I’ve always followed him, since he was at Barcelona and Bayern,” Baggio added when asked if he watched Manchester City’s matches. “I always follow them and I’m happy for their fans, it’s all very deserved.”

Baggio then spoke about his time at Brescia and how he knew that Guardiola was going to become a coach right at the start of the 2000s.

“We were a strong group off the pitch, and we showed it on the pitch too,” Baggio said of his former teammates.

On the early signs that Guardiola was going to go on to become a top coach, he added: “He is a unique person, cheerful and positive. He’s always there for everyone.

“He was helping people even when he was a player, before he became a coach. He always gave an extra push to help people improve. That’s what I say, but I’m sure that any of his teammates over the years would agree.

“I prefer to talk about their good qualities when I’m talking about a friend, I’ll leave flaws for someone else,” Baggio joked when asked if he had anything negative to say about his friend.
