During Saturday, the Fuente del Rey pavilion in the capital hosted a tournament organized by the Castilla y León Badminton Federation with the support of the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club.

The event, for sub11, sub15 and sub19 categories, brought together clubs from Castilla y León and communities from the center of the peninsula.

The club’s youngest players delivered, making the hosts the most successful club on Saturday.

The Soria club’s youth team won three gold medals, three runners-up finishes and four other bronze medals.

The under-15 player Jimena Ayllón was the most outstanding player from Soriano both in her club and in the championship, winning two golds. In the singles category, he won the five matches that led him to the title by two sets to zero and with some comfort. He culminated his great Saturday of competition with his second victory in the mixed doubles team with his clubmate, Daniel Marín. In this case, the final was very close until they won the third set 21-19 against a couple from La Mancha.

Within the singles of the under-15 category, Daniel Marín himself reached the semi-final round where he was defeated against a rival from Palencia.

In this category, the other Soria participants in the running, Aarón Barrera and Álvaro Gómez, were proclaimed runners-up. In the match that decided the gold, they played two high-level sets and lost the victory to the favorites by 21-18 and 22-20.

Soria’s great prominence among the U11 females. The final of the young women, with a double presence of players from Soria, fell on the side of Lucía Rosa who won over her teammate, Elena Izquierdo.

Finally, María González and Carmen Gómez participated in the under-19 category despite still belonging to the under-17 category. Both had a very complete competition. In individual they won the bronze after both classified in third position.

In the doubles category, María would win the silver medal along with Sheila Diez, from the Medinense Badminton Club, while Carmen would repeat bronze, partnering with Andrea Herrero from Valladolid.

The presentation of medals to the winners was carried out by the sports councilor of the Soria City Council, Manuel Salvador, and the president of the Badminton Federation of Castilla y León, Juan Manuel Barrera from Soria, who were able to verify the quality of the competition and the level of the Club Badminton Soria-CS24 quarry.
