Three young Foggia fans dead in accident after football match in Potenza

Three young Foggia fans, including two minors, died in an accident road that occurred on Sunday evening just outside Potenza, on the road to Melfi, after the Serie C match, group C, between Potenza and Foggia which ended 1-1. The victims were between 13 and 21 years old.

According to the first reconstruction of the dynamics, still being ascertained by the police, the three victims were on board a car that was involved in an accident together with another car, with a family from the Lucanian capital on board, and a coach. One of the three fans died instantly, the other two were transported by 118 ambulances to hospital but did not make it.

Condolence was expressed by the two football clubs immediately after the incident. For the mayor of Foggia Maria Aida Episcopo it is ”a tragedy that strikes and pains each and every one of us – she wrote in a message on social media – The whole city is rallying around the families and friends of the victims”.

”Three very young lives shattered, another road accident on the Potenza – Melfi state road. A sporting trip that turns into tragedy. I express, also on behalf of the Regional Council of Basilicata, my feelings of closeness and condolences to the families of the victims and to the sporting community of the city of Foggia for the terrible accident that last night involved three young fans of the Apulian football team”. Thus the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi.
