In Saint-Varent, Les As du loup, a badminton association, was created in 2022 by two friends, Olivier Bourasseau and Olivier Blot, the two co-presidents. They explain “ that there is no competition on the program, this is not only leisure, in a friendly atmosphere ». The average age is around 35/40 years old. The oldest member is 63 years old and the distribution is one third girls and two thirds boys for around seventy members. Annual registration is 25 euros for adults. The players therefore meet on Tuesday evening and Thursday evening at the sports hall of the sports complex from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (everyone is free to come whenever they want).
« We supply the posts, nets and shuttlecocks. The member must bring their own racket. There is no badminton practice during the December and summer school holidays. Last July, for the first time, we participated in the pétanque competition in mid-July, organized by the municipality. » And on October 26, 2024, for the first time, Les Aces du roulette is organizing an external leisure badminton tournament, open to all, a boys/girls or mixed double team tournament. The room opens at 2 p.m. for matches to start at 3 p.m. €6 per team with small meals and refreshment bar on site.
