Brian Riemer was allowed to pack his bags at Anderlecht about a month ago after the 0-2 defeat against KRC Genk. In the meantime, David has taken over Hubert after a successful period as interim coach.
“I must say that it was a big surprise that Brian was fired at that moment,” said Anderlecht player Ludwig Augustinsson at the Danish Bold. “We had only lost one game in the season and we had just qualified for the Europa League. In that way, the dismissal surprised me.”
Riemer received a lot of criticism, especially about the level of play that Anderlecht brought. “I must say that Brian is a fantastic coach. He is always well prepared, tactically skilled and plays attacking and attractive football,” Augustinsson continues.
Last season, the Purple & White competed for the title, after a very difficult season before. Brian Riemer had certainly done a good job here, and Anderlecht’s wing defender also sees that.
“With the work Brian has done at Anderlecht, it is my clear opinion that he has played a very big role in the club’s return to the top flight of Belgian football after several years of dormancy,” concluded Augustinsson.
