NBA, Joel Embiid misses the preseason due to injury: the conditions

I Philadelphia 76ers they announced yesterday that Joel Embiid will miss the rest of the NBA preseason due to a left knee injury. Embiid met with doctors in recent days to better define the state of his knee. The meeting appears to have gone well, with sources saying the ultimate goal is to put Embiid in the best position to make his regular season debut. Last year, Embiid only played one preseason game.

As mentioned, the goal is to have him ready for October 23 against the Milwaukee Bucks in Philadelphia. The big man, who played 39 games last year after a knee injury in late January cost him his chance to defend his MVP award, he lost 25 to 30 pounds before training camp (and said he hopes to lose more). All this, to ease the pressure on the knee itself. Moreover, Philadelphia enters this season with presumably the highest expectations it has ever had during the Embiid era, after one of the best offseasons in the NBA.

The 76ers picked up Paul George as a free agent, also extended the contracts of both Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, retained free agents Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kyle Lowry, then signed Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon and Andre Drummond to complete the team’s rotations. George made his preseason debut at Iowa last Friday, while all eight players sat out Saturday’s loss to Boston on the second straight night.
