Participation, victory. New reason for pride for the students of the Adriano artistic high school in Tivoli. At the Biennial of Artistic High Schools – 210 participating Italian high schools – they won the Grimaldi sponsor award.
The theme was the dream and the students of the 5C Giulia Benedetti, Lorenzo Di Lallo, Elena Orlandi, Giulia Tanzi and Andra Cristiana Teletin of the sculptural plastic laboratory conducted by Professor Giusy Milone they nailed it.
The work
The work is called Streben (from the German philosophical term for tension towards the absolute) will be on display until 20 October at the Museum of Civilizations in Rome. The technique, modeling in clay. And he talks about modeling, about the dream, about the effort to transform one’s body, to tear away what one thinks is extra. A work – dimensions 35 x 45 x 32 cm – that is striking, that transmits the message. As only art can do.
“The idea is from the students, it is and a philosophical appeal. They fully grasped the theme of the dream and relaunched it with a clear message to everyone. I just made a suggestion: create a usable work – explains Professor Giuseppina Milone – My idea of contemporary art is this. I limited myself to a technical guide. I’m proud of these kids.”
“The work – he adds – is the fruit of the union of everyone’s ideas, fears and dreams. The heterogeneity of the students at our school creates magic. Every boy has his own aspiration and versatility. The results prove it”.
The Biennial of Artistic High Schools, this year in its fifth edition, involved 210 Italian Artistic High Schools, of which 167 were selected to participate in the exhibition and competition. 207 works were collected, of which 186 were created by Italian students and 21 by students of European and international art schools. The winning works are designated by a Jury chaired by Giovanni Bianchi, Professor of History of Contemporary Art at the University of Padua.
The project, included in the Program for the Valorization of Excellence of the Ministry of Education and Merit, was carried out by the Association of Friends of the Biennale of Artistic High Schools (A.Bi.Li.Art.), with the support of the National Network of High Schools Artistic (Re.Na.Li.Art.). The awards ceremony took place at the Ministry.
An award-winning high school
The recognition for the Hadrian of Tivoli comes after the award from the Lazio Region last year, received for the Nativity scene set in the temple of Vesta. Made with recycled materials, it remained on display on the main floor of Palazzo San Bernardino, headquarters of the Municipality of Tivoli, throughout the Christmas holidays.
Results that underline the commitment and creativity of the students and teachers of the Adriano Institute, which includes the artistic high school and the classical high school and is directed by Sandra Vignoli. His motto addressed to students: “You don’t study for a grade, but you study for life. The most important thing is to learn to learn. What you learn in high school, in the best years, is an investment for the future. Culture helps to choose in life and to look deeply”.
