Guatemala City, October 14 (AGN).– Guatemala more than completed its performance in the IV Latin American Games, Asunción 2024, with a positive balance in terms of the medals achieved in the event that was held in an atmosphere of total inclusion.
The Guatemalans shone from October 4 to 12, 2024 in the Paraguayan capital, demonstrating to the world the sporting level that national athletes have at the international level.
The main objective of this event was to provide athletes with a platform to demonstrate their athletic abilities, encourage their personal development, as well as promote acceptance and inclusion in society.
Guatemala shines in the 2024 Special Olympics Latin American Games
After months of training, the chapines jumped into action on South American soil, seeking to place Guatemala’s name at the top as they always do in each competition.
After displaying magic on the playing fields, in front of 19 Latin American countries and 4 guests from Europe, Guatemala made history by winning a total of 44 medals, distributed as follows:

- Ana Martínez, Swimming in the events of – 25 meters backstroke – 25 meters freestyle
- Alonso Baeza, tennis in the men’s singles event
- Octavio Lone, swimming in the 100 meter freestyle event
- Diana Monterroso and Abby Girón, tennis in the unified doubles event
