When Jürgen Klopp signed with Red Bull as head of football, there was a hail of criticism. His numerous advertising partnerships are also controversial. But his image seems unbreakable.

The man can apparently advertise anything. For cars from Opel, men’s cosmetics from Nivea or, more recently, shopping at Media Markt. Even his campaign as a “financial coach” for the controversial structural sales company DVAG failed to do him any harm. At first glance, it seemed as if Jürgen Klopp had gone a step too far with his involvement with the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull. Many fans see the company as the epitome of the commercialization of sport. Accordingly, there was criticism of the million dollar deal.

Only three percent don’t like Jürgen Klopp at all

But Jürgen Klopp’s image is apparently unbreakable. He is popular with the vast majority of Germans. His level of awareness is already enormous at 86 percent. 78 percent of those who know the football coach find him likeable or very likeable; Among those who classify themselves as interested in football, the figure is even 87 percent. Only 12 percent like “Kloppo” less and three percent don’t like him at all. This was the result of a survey commissioned by Forsa sternin which seven percent did not want to comment.

The Forsa pollsters were amazed at the results: “It’s rare that results across all population and voter groups are so unanimous.” The values are reminiscent of the best times of “Emperor” Franz Beckenbauer. Women like Klopp almost as much as men, East Germans as much as West Germans. When it comes to age, there is a focus on the middle groups. Perhaps the former coach of Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund is not as present to the younger generation due to his years in the Premier League at Liverpool FC.

Even AfD voters are rallying behind Klopp, who is strongly committed to tolerance: 70 percent find him likeable or very likeable. AfD supporters are also the group where the coach is the most unpopular. But there are only seven percent who feel no sympathy for him at all. The trainer is most popular among CDU and CSU supporters: 86 percent find him likeable or very likeable. Behind them are the voters of the SPD and FDP with 83 percent. Jürgen Klopp – the very grand coalition personified.

The data was collected by telephone by the market and opinion research institute Forsa for stern and RTL Deutschland on October 10th and 11th, 2024. The Opinion poll is representative. Database: 1005 surveys. Statistical margin of error: +/- 3 percentage points.
