Double Ten National Day Cup Basketball Tournament, International Outstanding Association of New South Wales, Australia, International Association of Outstanding Persons Oceania and Australia General Association
[The Epoch Times, October 15, 2024]The 6th National Day Cup Basketball Tournament will be held from 12 noon to 9 pm on Saturday, October 12, at Ryde in the City of Ryde, North District, Sydney. Community Sports Center is solemnly hosted. Once again, it was warmly welcomed by the overseas Chinese community and mainstream society. The participating teams were very enthusiastic, and the registration capacity was full two months before the competition. A total of 18 strong teams signed up to participate in the four major competitions. Under fierce competition, the youth group (under 40 years old) was won by the PoundTown team, followed by the Thunder team, and the Park team was third. In the youth group (over 40 years old), the Friday Morning Ballers team was also won by the Friday Morning Ballers team, and the Taiwan Spartan team was the runner-up; women’s In the group, the Taipei 102 team won the championship again, and the Thunder team was the runner-up; in the youth group (under 12 years old), the Fadeaway boyz team won the championship, and the Fortnightbattlepass team came in second.
The championship site was well-attended, and Taiwanese and Australian government officials, public opinion representatives and overseas Chinese leaders attended to congratulate them, including: Qiu Yaping, acting director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney, Vicki, director Wu’s wife, Shi Boxiang, director of the Sydney Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center, Xin South Wales MP Jordan Lane MP, Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown, Ryde City Councilor Justin Li, City of Willoughby’s newly elected Taiwanese City Councilor Michelle Chuang, etc. Under the guidance of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney, the Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center in Sydney, and the Australian General Association of International Outstanding Persons, this championship is hosted by the Sydney District Preparatory Committee to celebrate the 113th National Day of the Republic of China, New South Wales International, Australia It is hosted by the Distinguished Citizens Society International of NSW, Australia and co-organized by the National Chengchi University Alumni Association of Sydney.
In the opening ceremony, President Lin Yawen of the International Association of Outstanding Persons not only welcomed and thanked everyone for participating in this very meaningful event and celebrating the National Day of the Republic of China in Taiwan, but also said that this championship has continued to be welcomed and affirmed by the Taiwanese community and mainstream society. In addition to thanking the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Republic of China and the Double Ten National Day Preparatory Committee for their continued funding of this event, I would also like to thank the Ryde City Government for once again becoming the largest financial sponsor of this event. General Convener of the National Day Preparatory Committee Huang Songhui also delivered a speech to thank the International Outstanding Persons Association and National Chengchi University Alumni Association for continuing to host this championship. Qiu Yaping, Acting Director of the Beijing Office in Sydney, delivered a speech to thank the National Day preparatory meeting and the International Outstanding Talents Association for their careful planning. He also pointed out that the players present’s wonderful and all-out performance fully demonstrated the spirit of hard work of Taiwanese people from generation to generation, as well as Taiwan’s Energy, determination and resilience! Finally, I wish the event a success! Director Shi Boxiang of the Sydney Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center said in his speech that the National Day Cup Basketball Game is the finale of this year’s series of activities in Sydney to celebrate the Double Ten National Day. It is particularly meaningful to end the series of activities with laughter and sweat. He mentioned that this year’s National Day has continued the momentum of the past two years. From the City2Surf TWRunners charity road run, the National Day Cup table tennis game, to the basketball game, the number of participants has continued to expand. This year’s basketball game has 18 teams and about 150 players. Thanks to the international heroes There will be fun and meaningful events, as well as support from Ryde Council.
During the opening ceremony, State Councilor Jordan Lane and Mayor Trenton Brown also delivered speeches affirming the long-term significant contribution of the championship to mainstream Australian society. The New South Wales Parliament has included the official meeting minutes to commend the championship. The Ryde City Government is also honored to provide funding subsidies. It is very Welcome to continue to hold this event in Ryde City to serve more citizens, and congratulations on the successful hosting of the championship. Mayor Trenton Brown and President Lu Jinyan of the International Association of Outstanding Leaders Oceania and Australia Federation attended the closing ceremony and presented awards to the winning teams.
This year’s tournament attracted more players and spectators than in previous years, with about 300 people packed into the arena. In addition to preparing a large variety of famous Taiwanese drinks and snacks inside the arena, the organizer also prepared a large number of delicious BBQ and fruits outside the arena for players and spectators to enjoy.
