Coach Malaysian national team Pau Marti Vicente admitted that he had no complaints after his team was defeated by New Zealand 0-4 in the FIFA Matchday match at North Harbor Stadium, Auckland, Monday (14/10).
Pau Marti admitted that he was disappointed that the Malaysian national team failed to provide good results for the supporters of the Harimau Malaya Team, who had given full support to the team.
“First, I want to apologize to the fans, because they have supported us, watched in Malaysia and many came to the stadium to support us. They definitely want to see their favorite team win and perform well, but today we couldn’t produce results good for them,” said Pau Marti after the match.

The Spanish coach said the Malaysian national team’s game declined in the second half. After successfully holding New Zealand to a goalless draw in the first half, Malaysia conceded four goals in the second half. Pau Marti mentioned the game transition problem which caused the Malaysian national team to concede up to four goals.
“A difficult match for sure. In the first half we faced a lot of pressure, but we tried to defend, we remained confident. Maybe in terms of transition, we could have had more chances, so we ended the first half with zero.”
“In the second half, we conceded as many goals as possible [terjadi] “Because it’s a transition problem, not a defensive problem, but I have no complaints about our players,” added Pau Marti.
Even though they were slaughtered by New Zealand 0-4, Pau Marti had no complaints about the Malaysian national team. The former Barcelona B assistant coach said the defeat to New Zealand was a valuable lesson for the Malaysian national team.
“We faced a very strong opponent. For me, since I have been in this team, this is the toughest opponent we have faced. For our players this is a good experience,” said Pau Marti.
“Yes, everything is positive. The idea of coming here, spending a few days together, training together, having matches, getting minutes, facing an opponent like this. Sometimes it’s difficult to face a team like this, so for us it’s a challenge, but we’ll learn from this defeat,” said Pau Marti.
