83 archers in Arsac for the first indoor Girondin competition of the season

The Panchon hall, in Arsac, welcomed on Sunday October 13, archers from the great South West who came to compete in the indoor competition on targets at 18 meters, qualifying for the French championships and the French para archery championships. This first Gironde competition of the season included events in the morning and afternoon, with shooting starts at 9:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Throughout the day, there were 83 competitors representing 18 companies competing in the events of the 20 classification categories. Each of the archers and regardless of the type of bow (recurve, compound or naked) had to shoot, at targets located 18 meters away, 20 volleys of three arrows. A total of 60 arrows that can earn him a maximum of 600 points, the competition lasting approximately three hours.

Great performances

At the end of the day, good performances were recorded and 31 competitors exceeded the total of 500 points. And if, among the young people, the U15 Antoine Bourgeois (Saint-Médard-en-Jalles and recurve bow) achieved the nice score of 535 points, among the adults, the Mérignacais Raphaël Burrus (compound bow) approached the summits with 581 points. On the women’s side, it was Mérignacaise Gabrielle Faber (recurve bow) who achieved the best performance with 524 points.

The events were placed under the control of four official referees under the direction of Lionel Duran; they were very satisfied with the progress and the excellent spirit which presided over this day.

The organizers of the Arsacais Archers announced the results and rewarded the winners at the end of the day. Their president, Patrick Borde, was also satisfied with the progress of the events: “I thank all those involved in this tournament who contributed to its success thanks to their great sportsmanship and exemplary behavior. We have offered you an organization that we wanted to be as good as possible and we will do even better during the next tournaments where we will see you again with the same pleasure. »
