In the duel, which was the draw of the round, a nice football was played at first. Duchcov pulled for the longer end and deservedly took a 3:2 lead in the 75th minute without two players sent off. In the signaled nine-minute setup, however, he conceded the equalizing goal after turning the car around, after which he fell on the head referee Tomáš Saifert.

The mela started, which already seemed to be over, but the continuation of the game was prevented by Tomáš Fau from Duchcová thrusting into the assistant Radek Krutina. After him, the main referee ended the match prematurely.

“Obviously such behavior is unacceptable and we realize that something was out of line on our part. We apologize and we are sorry. On the other hand, it is necessary to perceive that the match was managed tendentially by the referees, which everyone can see on the video. Two expulsions during the match were fabricated, the highlight was the theatrical fall of Krutina’s assistant. You can’t call it that insults… After a push that wouldn’t have defeated my four-year-old son, he fell, somersaulted and held his eye. The referees played everything to the end when they called the police and went to the hospital for treatment,” the playing coach of FK Duchcov stands behind his team. “For what happened, even the Údlice players themselves apologized to us,” he adds.

Zdeněk Vaňkát is a former football referee, nicknamed the Butcher behind the scenes. He played 48 games as an assistant in the top flight. He made no secret of his friendship with accused FACR official Roman Berber. In the past, he was very active at the level of the Chomutov District Football Association and the Ústí Regional Football Association. At the same time, he was accused by the FAČR Ethics Commission of influencing the second division duel Vyšehrad – Varnsdorf (year 2019), but this year the Municipal Court in Prague canceled this accusation. Zdenek Vaňkát’s legal representative is Jindřich Rajchl, the leader of the PRO 2022 party. He is newly on the supervisory board of the Chomutov zoo.
Matěj Drbohlav is a Czech businessman, politician and former professional footballer, from 2019 to 2022 a member of the Trikolora movement, from 2022 a member and from November 2023 vice-chairman of the PRO 2022 party. He is the one who brought the captain from Nagano Vladimír Růžička into politics. In August 2023, he was extrajudicially sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence for the crime of incitement to damage someone else’s property, when in September 2018 he should have led his employee to set fire to the car of the wife of Chomutov Deputy Mayor David Dinda. Drbohlav denies his guilt, described the lawsuit as fabricated and filed an appeal in the matter after the verdict. The court then confirmed the condition imposed on Drbohlav by the court of first instance.
“That match had its quality in the first half, Duchcov played well, he only concentrated on the game. After the reversal, as if by magic, his players behaved differently. They commented on every decision of the referees, clustered around them, were irritated, the coach kept yelling. The highlight was what happened after the equalizing goal, then the insult. Totally useless for me. Then we’re surprised that the referees don’t want to whistle that there aren’t enough of them,” adds Martin Lux, goalkeeper and secretary of Údlice.

For the record of the match
According to him, the referees did not make a mistake, but he himself admits that he can hardly judge some questionable moments from the goal. “For the fact that it was whistled by a young boy, so cool. I also understand the emotions of Duchcov, but this was over the top. But some guys were fine, for example goalkeeper Matěj Kukla, he himself didn’t understand what was going on,” says Lux.
Macháček disagrees with his statement. “Already in the first half, I felt that the referees’ whistling was tendentious. I warned our players that there will be questionable moments, let them control themselves. I have experienced a lot of brutality and cuts, but I have never seen how expertly the referees guarded it on Saturday. Right from the end of the second half, the home team should have been expelled for a clear kick by our player without the ball. Then more turned fouls, that’s borderline Krutina turned systematically against us. He and his colleagues were arrogant. When our player Holubička commented on turning the corner without profanity, he received a yellow card. There he was waiting for the borderline. In a few minutes, the same with our Barnat. Then I just laughed at the referees’ statements, it was not even possible to curse.”

Even without two suspended players, Duchcov took the lead on his side, but after equalizing in the fifth minute of regulation, soot blew in him. “The boys drove, they tried, some could barely walk. The referees pushed the home team, overturned cars. We got a goal after one of those. A scuffle broke out, which probably would have ended with one or two reds for us for swearing, but in the process, a home player (Lukáš Matys – author’s note) who had already been substituted and showered, ran into the field and punched our Fau. That was the trigger for what happened later,” says Macháček.
Dramatic moments begin with a car turning in favor of the home team (time 13.20), followed by an equalizing goal and a scuffle culminating in insults:
“I don’t know if a spectator ran in there or if it was our player. I didn’t notice exactly if there was any slapping. Maybe we made a mistake in terms of organization, but it happened quickly, it was probably hard to prevent it,” Lux shrugs. “There is no mention of the behavior of the home player in the minutes of the match. There is also no mention that our Fišer was caught by another Udlica player under the neck and lying on the ground. The record is full of inaccuracies. It seems to me that the referees have tended to make the worst of it,” says Duchco’s coach. “The only thing that fits is my quote. I understand that in the confusion, the referees have a hard time remembering what someone told them, but why are they making things up?”

Duchcov’s protest
An interesting fact is that Duchcov footballer Tomáš Zoubek saw the seventh red card only twenty minutes after the match. “He was already going home from the showers, he told the referee that they can be glad that he didn’t push them. But they put something else in the record. In addition, they stated that Fau kicked the door. He told me he didn’t kick in any doors. Then they called the police, three cars arrived. In short, they played the comedy to the end, even by going to the hospital for treatment. Krutina’s right shoulder was fixed, while Fauík pushed him into the left and held his face on the field. The second assistant had his neck fixed, but he moved normally on the pitch, no one grabbed him by the neck. Just a comedy, the next day he was seen without a collar,” Macháček scoffs.
They were without a red card for a year and a half
Duchcov’s footballers have had problems with discipline in the past, for example in the 2021/2022 season Michal Ajdinović slapped an opponent during a duel with Stupčice, in the same year they also became famous for a fight in Lenešice, in which the spectators also participated. The last known incident in which coach František Macháček’s team was involved was the duel in Osek in November 2022. During someone, four Duchcov players saw a red card. “That’s when I thought it couldn’t work like that. We had an internal meeting, we discussed it a lot. Since then, we’ve kept at it, half that season and the whole last season we didn’t have a single one expelled! I know some of our players are hot-headed, but they really stuck with it. From our point of view, it is all the more obvious what injustice has occurred in Údlice,” believes Macháček.
But Martin Lux from Údlicky confirms that the door has been kicked down. “That’s right, someone from Duchcov kicked them out. We were already in the showers, but the guests were still full of emotions. I am shocked by this behavior, everyone asks us about it. Then people are surprised that the referees do not want to whistle that there are not enough of them. We play B class, the referees also have B class quality, so what are the boys from Duchcov surprised?”

Even for this reaction, František Macháček has an answer. “It’s true that referees can’t be leaguers, that they make mistakes. We make mistakes at this level too. But when referees make so many mistakes, when it’s tendentious from them with the aim of harming one team… But now only our players will be punished, they will receive heavy penalties, no referees, and we will move on. I really don’t understand why they managed it like that, what was the intention. The hounds don’t want to advance, neither do we. I really don’t get it.”
The newspaper also contacted chief judge Tomáš Saifert and assistant Radek Krutina. But both refused the interview and referred to the minutes of the match.
