Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola said that he considers Inter Miami‘s Argentine forward Lionel Messi to be the best player in the history of football.
The 53-year-old Spanish specialist is quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“Leo Messi is the best player of all time. Maybe I’m disrespecting Pele or Diego Maradona, but I can’t imagine anyone with the same consistency as Messi. He’s unique.”
Guardiola worked with Messi from 2008 to 2012 when he was in charge of Barcelona. During this period, the Catalans won the Champions League twice (in 2009 and 2011), and Messi won the Ballon d’Or for four years in a row.
Guardiola previously said that he was ready to work in Italy if Roberto Baggio joined his coaching staff.
