2024 World Archery Championship on 3D targets: the French hit the mark

From September 30 to October 6, the 3D Target Archery World Championships took place in <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/09/marco-cesari-on-the-world-podium-in-slovenia-master-of-silhouette-archery/" title="Marco Cesari on the world podium in Slovenia, master of silhouette archery”>Mokrice, Slovenia. The French were able to demonstrate the full extent of their talent in this discipline and brought home great medals in several events.

Our French archers were right on target during the 3D target archery events. This discipline is much less known to the general public than traditional target shooting and yet it is probably the form of archery closest to that which the first archers in the world practiced.

In mixed doubles.

Alicia Baumert and David Jackson reached the top of the podium and were crowned team world champions in the barebow category. After a final where our French had to give everything against the Spanish who didn’t want to give up, everything came down to the last end of arrows with a final won by our archers with a score of 146 to 142 points.

As for the compound arch event, Elodie Baret and Joan Pauner were able to stand up to Austria to obtain their place on the podium. Although the duo was unable to hold on to Italy to reach the grand final, our archers did not give up and managed to win the Bronze medal.

Silver for Joan Pauner individually.

If the majority of events did not bring medals to our French archers individually, Joan Pauner still knew how to transcend himself to achieve a great performance in compound arch.

Opposed to the Swedish Mikael Anderle for the grand final, Joan Pauner only narrowly missed winning the gold medal and lost with 84 points against 86. He was still crowned vice world champion of discipline, a superb performance for the French clan.

In the same category, we could have seen two French people get on the podium but Rémy Albanese was unable to achieve his bronze medal against the Italian Marco Bruno who won the match with a shoot-off arrow while the two archers were neck and neck at 84 points.

The women’s team did not go far from bronze.

If the French men’s team was eliminated in the first round, the women’s team almost won an additional medal.

Élodie Baret, Alicia Baumert, Kristell Chailland and Danièle Ramos kept the American team in check throughout the small final before concluding the match in a draw at 114 points. It was therefore during the jump-off that the Americans managed to overtake our French women by a hair and leave them at the foot of the podium. Despite everything, our French women can be proud with a great performance which allowed them to compete with the greatest in the world.
