Nadal’s penultimate stop, the highest paid tournament in history

The Six Kings Slam, a new unofficial exhibition tournament that does not include ATP points, will be held between this Wednesday and Saturday the 19th in Riyadh. Six of the best players on the planet will be present and one of the main attractions will be the return of Rafael Nadal in what will be the competition prior to his farewell in the Davis Cup finals, his penultimate performance.

The event, which will be played on a hard court, is the best paid in the history of tennis, with 6 million euros for the winner and 1.5 million guaranteed for each of the participants. To put it in context, Wimbledon distributes 2,700,000 euros to the winner and Roland Garros awards 1,200,000.

Nadal and Djokovic will play directly in the semifinals against the winners of the quarterfinals. In the case of the Manacorí, his rival will be between Alcaraz and Rune, a fact that previews a possible Spanish duel. The Serbian’s opponent will be between Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner. If Sinner wins, there could be a revenge of the recent final of the Shanghai Masters 1000, when the Italian, current leader of the circuit, won.

As far as the ATP calendar is concerned, the main tournaments remaining this year are the ATP 250 this week in Almati, Antwerp and Stockholm, the ATP 500 in Basel and Vienna starting next Monday, the Masters 1000 in Paris on the 28th from October to November 3, and the ATP 500 in Belgrade and Metz from the 3rd to the 9th of that same month. On November 10, the Masters Cup (ATP Nitto Finals, in Turin) will begin until the 19th. That same day, in Malaga, the Davis Cup finals will begin until the 24th. The Martín Carpena pavilion will attend the last rackets of Nadal as a professional tennis player.
