WELS/FELDKIRCHEN. The Austrian Judo State Championships in the general class took place in Carinthia at the weekend. The result for the LZ Multikraft Wels is more than pleasing: three bronze medals for Anna Bachler, Firas Ben Saad and Daniel Leutgeb.
What is particularly impressive is that Anna Bachler won a medal for the first time in the general class at state championships when she was just 16 years old. In the category up to 63 kg she only lost to the later runner-up Lilian Hutterer and finally fought her way confidently through the repechage round to bronze.
Daniel Leutgeb also fought his way to bronze up to 66 kg, one category above his normal weight class. The third bronze medal in the multis went to Firas Ben Saad up to 73 kg, at his first appearance in his new weight class. He only lost in the semifinals to the eventual national champion Alexander Kaserer. Kaserer is a training guest and partner for the Multis twice a week in the Welser Budokan and in the Bundesliga he fights for the LZ Multikraft Wels.
Also bronze in the U16 mixed team
The Austrian Championships for the U16 mixed teams were held in Feldkirchen on Sunday. In a competition team with the UJZ Mühlviertel, the LZ Multikraft Wels with Paula Niedermayr, Marlies Müller, Luka Haminger, Xaver Niedermayr and Florian Hochhauser took third place.
