Monagas will have a delegation of 320 athletes in more than 30 sports modalities in the 21st edition of the Oriente 2024 National Games, which will be held from November 8 to 24 and will be hosted, in addition to this entity, by the states of Anzoátegui, Sucre and Falcón.

Miguel Fuentes, president of the Monagas State Sports Institute (Indem), reported that Carlos Córcida was appointed responsible for the local delegation that will participate in 18 of the 19 disciplines that will be held in Monagas, with a total of 220 athletes distributed in chess, athletics, badminton, track cycling, road and mountain biking, coleus, karate do, kenpo, field and sand kickingball, judo, indoor soccer, weights, modern pentathlon, racquetball and indoor and sand volleyball.

“We invite the population to attend this sports festival as a family to support both our athletes and the more than 3,000 from all over the country who will visit us,” commented Fuentes, highlighting that both Governor Ernesto Luna and the mayor of Maturín , Ana Fuentes, are providing all the support to ensure the success of these Games.

He added that Rodimel Liccien will be leading the delegation in Sucre, with a total of 51 athletes in the disciplines of swimming, open water, water polo, wrestling, Creole balls, bocce, Basque pelota and boxing; while Juan Villarroel will be in charge of the 43 athletes in Anzoátegui (taekwondo, fencing, kickboxing, wushú and women’s 3×3 basketball), and Juan Marcano will be in Falcón with gymnastics.

The first competitions in Monagas will be judo, badminton, chess, modern pentathlon, track cycling and indoor volleyball, starting on November 9, the same date when taekwondo and fencing begin in Anzoátegui and swimming and Creole balls. in Sucre.

Athletics will take place in the renovated Maturín Sports Center from November 19 to 24, the closing date of the Games.

Futsal will compete from November 15 at the Rutaca Sports Arena.
