Roger Federer’s former coach admits his surprise at Rafa Nadal’s withdrawal
For the vast majority, it was clear that Rafael Nadal was going to announce his retirement with his participation in the 2024 Davis Cup Finals. However, for a few it seems a surprising fact.
This is the case of Ivan Ljubicic, Roger Federer’s former coach. In statements collected by Express, he explains why he finds it surprising news:

“I’m surprised because I thought Roland Garros was probably the right time, the most logical place to leave it,” the Croatian said while attending the Festival dello Sport. “But I don’t know what he [Nadal] feel or why that was their decision.

Rafa Nadal played Roland Garros for the last time in 2024, for the first time since he won the Grand Slam for the 14th time in 2022. The Manacorí lost in the first round of the tournament due to the bad luck he had in the draw for the draw, which made him face to Alexander Zverev, ultimately a finalist.
