At 8:45 PM the Red Devils will try to finally beat France, which has proven to be the dark beast of our country in recent years. The last four mutual confrontations were all lost, for the last Belgian victory we have to go back to a practice match in 2015.
But it promises to be a very difficult task to turn the tide, because the Devils are certainly not at their best for the arrival of Les Bleus. Especially on an offensive level, the team has been decapitated by the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.
Openda does not score with Duivels
The absence of the latter makes it quite difficult for the Belgians to score. Loïs Openda will once again replace the all-time top scorer at striker, but the 24-year-old is having a hard time with the national team. He scores consistently at RB Leipzig, but with the Devils he has been dry for almost two years.
His last goal dates back to November 2022, when he scored in the practice match against Egypt just before the World Cup in Qatar. Since then, Openda has played no fewer than eighteen international matches without scoring.
Albert pleads for Batshuayi’s return
Philippe Albert joins in Sudpresse therefore for the return of Michy Batshuayi to the national team. “Apart from Lukaku, he is the only one who has a nose for goals,” the analyst believes.
Batshuayi was passed over by Tedesco for the European Championships in the summer and has not been called up since. The 31-year-old has often been a substitute at Galatasaray this season, but has already scored four times in 400 playing minutes. Statistics are also impressive for the Devil’s eyes. In 56 international matches he has scored 27 goals, despite usually having to come on as a substitute.
