After the surprising NLA initial victory, the Uzwil badminton club is playing a double round this weekend. The away game in Lausanne is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 20th, at 2 p.m. in the BZWU Niederuzwil sports hall, Uzwil will face the newly promoted team from Adliswil in its first home game of the new season.

(Text: Matthias Zindel) The mood in the Uzwil team is good. No wonder, with the clear 6-2 opening win against the reigning Swiss champions from Trogen, the players were able to gain a lot of self-confidence. But the successful start to the season should not obscure the fact that Uzwil is not one of the big favorites for the title. For example, the strong team from Lausanne is in the starting blocks. With the two new signings Alex Dunn and Aria Dinata, the French-speaking Swiss are among the transfer winners this summer. Dunn in particular is an absolute top player in doubles and mixed doubles. If the often injured Dounia Pelupessy also finds her way back to form among the women, then Lausanne will definitely be one of the big contenders for the title.

Adliswil, however, remains the big surprise bag. How strong is the team with Julien Scheiwiller at the helm? At the start of the season, the Zurich team lost 3:5 against Argovia, but Scheiwiller clearly beat Tobias Künzi in the Swiss duel. A first exclamation mark from the former Uzwil junior, who now plays for Adliswil.

Uzwil could probably play again with the same formation as at the start of the season. For the men with Svendsen, Tabeling, Utrosa, Panza and Tappeiner, for the women with Schnider, Seinen and Jann. Ramon Kropf and Rinoy Manavalan are still injured. Both NLA games can also be viewed in the live ticker www.bcuzwil.ch be tracked.
