The <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2023/06/two-new-coaches-with-the-badminton-team-neo-uqtr/" title="Two new coaches with the badminton team • Néo UQTR“>Patriotes badminton team of the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR) announced the addition of two new coaches to its staff. Indeed, Jacob Beaudoin-Vigneault and Donald Marchand will join Nathalie Genest for the next season.
Jacob Beaudoin-Vigneault is a former badminton player who stopped training after college in order to focus on coaching. He has coaching level 3 and has just obtained his diploma in sports intervention at Laval University. He held the position of assistant coach of the Faucons du Cégep de Lévis D1 during the 2021-2022 season, as well as the Rouge et Or sport-study from 2021 to 2023. During the 2022-2023 season, he is became the head coach of the Falcons.
In addition to these experiences, he is the founder and coach of the Bois-Francs Badminton Club (CBBF) and was also a coach at the Quebec Games in Rivière-du-Loup with the Chaudière-Appalaches team last March.
His training background, his enthusiasm and his innovative ideas make him an asset to the team, and he will be able to use his expertise to benefit the Pats for many years.
A veteran to complete the coaching group
For his part, Donald Marchand has a lot of experience. In fact, he has been a level 3 certified coach by Badminton Québec and Canada since 2000. He was notably a coach at Val-Mauricie secondary school in Shawinigan for 41 years, mainly at the junior level. The newcomer is also the founder of the Club Élite Badminton Center Mauricie/Concentration Montagnards (CEBCM).
As a coach, he has participated in various competitive circuits, ranging from regional and provincial school competitions to regional, provincial and national civilian competitions, at both junior and senior level. Among his highlights, Donald Marchand was selected 17 times to take part in the Quebec Games, he was also the organizer of more than 400 tournaments in his career.
As president of the Mauricie regional badminton association for 20 years, he founded the school badminton concentration at École Val-Mauricie in 2010. He has trained more than 60 provincial champions, both juniors and seniors, in various circuits, and has won 39 consecutive seasons and 39 playoffs, in addition to more than 200 banners!
It is with a well-rounded track record, expertise and undeniable talent that he will join the Patriotes for the coming years!
