Gifu Swoops, a professional basketball team, revealed that there was an error in the settings of the online form used to apply for autograph sessions, and the names of applicants were temporarily visible.
According to Gifu Basketball, which operates the team, there is a possibility that information about applicants from the post-game autograph session, which was limited to top fan club members and which began accepting applications at 4:00 p.m. on October 9th, may have been leaked to an outside party.
There was an error in the settings of the online form used to accept applications, and the names of 18 applicants were visible for up to 30 minutes until around 4:30 pm on the same day.
The settings were corrected after the problem was identified. We have provided explanations and apologies to affected applicants.
A similar problem occurred about a year ago, and although countermeasures were taken such as changing the application form system that handles personal information, it has occurred again due to a setting error.
The company says it will once again provide thorough guidance to its employees on how to properly set up forms, etc. and how to handle personal information, in an effort to prevent a recurrence.
