Karşıyaka president İlker Ergüllü talked about the financial situation of the club!

Karşıyaka president İlker Ergüllü made a statement about the financial situation of the club, which is going through a difficult period.

Karşıyaka, which ended its quarter-century sponsorship with Pınar in the past months, is having difficulty paying salaries to its players, technical team and employees in basketball.

According to the claim of DHA, Thomas Akyazılı left the team, as the club had difficulties in making payments after losing its sponsorship.

The club, which is in a bottleneck especially due to tax debts, may also face a transfer ban if it does not pay the debts it has structured with FIBA, according to İsmail Şenol’s news.

President İlker Ergüllü, regarding these problems Son Kale’ye spoke. Stating that the branch that causes the most wounds is basketball, İlker Ergüllü said:

“There is a debt from Turgay (Büyükkarcı) president, Azat (Yeşil) president and my period. The tax office says, ‘Pay this money, we will collect it from the worst people.’ Everyone wants to give signature authority and leave the management. This debt is constantly increasing. There is a 20 percent tax on basketball, 5 percent on football players, and 10 percent on volleyball. Basketball is the one that causes the biggest wound. 3.54 million TL per month comes from basketball. The situation is heading towards deadlock, as no one inside wants to retain signature authority. We are losing sponsors in basketball. While we were trying to find a way to pay the salaries after the main sponsor left, it became a very unhappy environment when these things happened. “If this system is like this in sports clubs, it is unknown who will support it.”

Referring to the parting of ways with Pınar, Ergüllü stated that they could not act accordingly because they did not know in advance that the sponsor would leave:

“Since Pınar paid the net salary for years, taxes were incurred extra. 95 million TL belongs to a period of almost one and a half years. This debt grows every minute. It also has an interest rate of 4.5 percent. The interest on 100 million is already 5 million per month. A new one is coming at 5 million TL. 10 million TL is increasing every month. In this case, it becomes impossible to form a team with a goal. If we had known that the sponsor would quit, we would have acted accordingly. They left in the middle of August. The team was formed then. The new administration does not pay the old debt. However, we have been paying off the old restructured debt since we arrived. 1 million 500 thousand TL every month. It was good for those old rulers. If you break the restructuring, there will be a debt of 180 million. Then you put an extra debt burden on the club again.”

Referring to the increasing resignations within the management, İlker Ergüllü said that they are ready to pave the way for the club:

“If a serious sponsor can be created, it would be a solution. Someone new will appear and say, ‘We are prepared, we will pay the tax and take the team with us.’ Or everyone will come together and find a way to escape through unity of mind. This is the only club with a basketball school that represents Izmir in Europe. Bursaspor plays matches for 45 thousand people. All mayors and deputies are there. Since there are many teams in Izmir, the support is divided and the fans are divided. It is not possible for us to receive serious support from anywhere such as the Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Industry, EGİAD, ESİAD, EBSO, İzmir Municipality, Karşıyaka Municipality, etc. I hope there will be someone better for Karşıyaka. We know how to pave the way. This means that we failed, we will pave the way for others to come.”
