The PSV supporters’ association will challenge the travel ban imposed for next week’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain. The supporters’ association reports this on its own website. The Eindhoven fans have started a procedure.

“Together with PSV, PSV Supporters Association, FSE Europe and both the French and Dutch Supporters Collective, we have submitted a request to the French court,” the website reads.

“We are challenging the travel ban for PSV supporters for the Champions League match between PSG and PSV. We hope for a good outcome. In his appeal, the lawyer has taken into account the many reactions from PSV supporters, which appeared in various media, to strengthen our story.”

It was announced on Monday that PSV fans will not be allowed to travel to Paris next week to support their club in the Parc des Princes. In total, no fewer than two thousand fans had purchased a ticket via PSV. However, they will have to stay at home next Tuesday.

The Eindhoven club had no outstanding penalties. However, the French police’s decision had to do with ‘some internal security matters’ and with disturbances with PSV supporters in the past, for example against RC Lens last year.

Then some of the PSV fans clashed with Lens supporters and the police. It was also restless during the match. For example, chairs were thrown and fireworks ended up in a section with Lens fans.

Business relations also stay at home
PSV indicates that it has done everything possible to challenge the decision of the French authorities. The reigning national champion has also offered to take extra measures to prevent problems. Yet the French stuck to their position. The Eindhoven residents also show solidarity with the supporters and will therefore travel to Paris without sponsors from the club.
