Club Naco wins international judo cup by achieving 49 medals

With nine gold medals, nine silver and 31 bronze to accumulate 49 medals, the Naco Sports Club won first place in the 47th Naco International Judo Cup, which concluded with resounding success in the Karate Pavilion of the Olympic Center, where more than 550 athletes from eight countries participated.

The Naqueños achieved the highest total of points with 1,021, thus achieving great performance in the different categories such as youngest, pre-infant, infant A and B, Cadet, Junior and Senior.

The Villa Francisca Judo Club finished in second place with three gold medals for a total of 300 points. The San Juan team obtained two gold medals for a total of 200 points.

Other teams that won a gold medal, in the different categories, were Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, Bameso, Chief Pride Judo Club, Duarte. Club Alajuela won one silver and 13 bronze.

Individual gold winners

In the children’s category A, in men’s and in B, Lisbaimel Santana, from BAR, Deivi Mateo, from SCR, Felipe Avila, BJS, Edwin Vega, KIS, won gold medals. Also Daniel Medina from SPM, Ismael Díaz, from JSF, and Ezequiel Pérez, IND. Also, in women, Camila Rodríguez, from CJN, Abby Tavarez, from CPJC. Yanibel Candelario DUA, Lorenny García, from SJU. Elizabeth Leyba, MPL and Kristel h Leyba, MPL.

In Junior, Raimeli Apolinario, from LRO and Elianny Feliz, from UASD.

In Cadet, Cesilia Sobrieti, SPM, Carla Tolentino, from SPM, Yarelis Lucas, SCR and Samintha Lucas, from SPM, won gold medals.

In Senior, Juan Melenciano, from SAN, Bernabé Vergara, from PAN and Ronal González, from Panama.

The president of the Board of Directors of the Naco Club, Mario Alvarez, heartily congratulated the athletes of the entity who won gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as the other competitors from all the countries, clubs and associations that participated in the International Judo Cup.

“Also congratulations to the Judo Parents Association, the coaches, and sponsors for all the support provided to the event,” he said.
