identifies 15 ultras for the incidents in Rome and will expel two members

Barely two hours after UEFA informed the Athletic Club the sanction imposed for the incidents carried out by ultras of the Basque team in Rome, the club has announced the identification of 15 people and began the process to apply the “zero tolerance” policy that it announced after the Europa League embarrassment.

After a complex viewing of the images recorded during the incidents at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, the Italian Police and the Ertzaintza have managed to identify fifteen people, whom they have identified in a report addressed to the red and white club.

Of the fifteen, ten are related to the ‘Herri Norte’ group, two of them are even members of the club.while the remaining five belong to the radical group ‘Ultramarine’ of the French Girondins de Bordeaux.

If Athletic executes the measures announced after the events of September 26 in the capital of Italy, the two partners will be reported to the Disciplinary Commission and face expulsion from the club. And while that decision is made, they will be prohibited from purchasing tickets for matches played away from San Mamés. The rest will not be able to buy tickets or, additionally, access the Athletic facilities. And anyone who collaborates with them to circumvent the ban risks receiving the same punishment.

The ultras could face a fine from UEFA

Athletic Club de Bilbao also wants the 15 radicals identified by the authorities to face the fine imposed by UEFA. which would mean for each of them about 2,000 euros.

“Athletic reiterates its commitment to zero tolerance towards any type of violence, and will continue to work with the authorities to ensure that our stands and the visiting stands to which we go to support the team are an example of coexistence, respect and sportsmanship” , declared the Basque club.

According to ‘El Correo’, these measures practically represent the beheading of the ‘Herri Norte’ group, since some of its main leaders are among the identified radicals.

In addition to the economic sanction, Athletic will be under special surveillance by UEFA for two years. A period in which, if incidents of this type are repeated, you will face a greater punishment.
