MalatyasporThe statement made by is as follows:

“Dear Malatya residents, dear sports fans; we took over the post of Yeni Malatyaspor Club President at the extraordinary elective congress of our club held recently and started our work quickly. However, the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Kale district of Malatya yesterday negatively affected our city and our team and caused our football players to become demoralized.

Our facility and stadium, which were heavily damaged by two major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, were also affected by the earthquake that occurred yesterday and the damage situation increased. Our struggle, which we tried to wage with limited and difficult resources, has brought us to a completely different, more difficult situation than before, with the earthquake that occurred yesterday. Our struggle to play our matches in the stadium, the renovation works carried out so far, and yesterday’s earthquake have seriously affected our application in the new period. In addition, the damage to our facilities had serious negative effects on both us and our football brothers. Our football friends, both from Malatya and from different cities, do not want to stay in the facilities. Our football brothers, who have to prepare for competitions and play matches under these difficult conditions, are experiencing serious psychological problems, like every brother living in our city.

Considering these conditions, I would like to express before the public that we want to withdraw from the league, with our rights reserved. Otherwise, there will be no other way to protect our football brothers who may be harmed here or may experience traumas that they will never forget throughout their lives. This responsibility belongs to the entire public, especially the Turkish Football Federation. Kind regards…”
