Manchester United keeping an eye on the Turkish international

For Benfica fans, Kerem Aktürkoglu‘s brilliant start to the season is not just synonymous with good things. This is because, even though he is being an asset for Bruno Lage and company, the Turkish international is attracting the attention of clubs in the main European leagues who are threatening to take him. However, it is important to remember: the Harry Potter of Light is safe. At least in the next transfer market. FIFA regulations are clear – and do not allow a player to represent three different clubs in a single season. Before joining Benfica, Aktürkoglu made six appearances for Galatasaray, in 2024/25. “Players can be registered with a maximum of three clubs during a season. During this period, the player can only play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player who travels between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons ( i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn instead of winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches”, it said, in chapter 3 of the regulations on player status and transfer. Benfica fans and Bruno Lage will therefore be able to face the January market with peace of mind with regard to this dossier. There are, however, teams that covet the striker, such as Manchester United. The international press insists on a tempting proposal: Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, a Turkish journalist, speaks of an offer that could reach 40 million euros. By Rita Pedroso
