Building on the Premier League’s years of work promoting football in the region, this office will help create more opportunities for fans in China to interact with the Premier League and Premier League clubs. To mark the opening of the office, the Premier League this week partnered with the British Council to provide a grassroots coaching development course for 35 community football coaches from different regions in China.
The four-day course, led by coaches from the Premier League from teams such as Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Wolves, trains these coaches in theoretical and practical training, giving them the confidence and skills to carry out football activities in their provinces .
To further solidify the Premier League’s commitment to supporting the development of Chinese football, whether at the elite or grassroots level, the Premier League also signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Chinese Football Association today.
This will see the two organizations collaborate on the delivery of programs and activities to support the development of players, coaches and referees at elite level, as well as support the training of coaches and referees at grassroots.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said: “We and our clubs have an incredible fanbase in China and opening an office in Beijing is a sign of how we continue to build on our popularity and strengthen our relationship with fans and fans. An important step in the partnership.
“We also understand the importance of developing local football and will continue to work with local football institutions to promote the game on a long-term basis. Establishing a permanent base in China will help us work more closely with our partners and develop more opportunities for players in the region. Fans bring excitement to the Premier League.”
The partnership with the Chinese Football Association will include the implementation of an advanced international-level coach development program, giving Chinese football coaches the opportunity to study at Premier League clubs. Other activities will include youth competitions and grassroots development sessions.
