Marko Warns of Potential Setback for Verstappen in F1 Title Race: Implications of a Five-Place Grid Penalty

Helmut Marko does not rule out that Max Verstappen will have to take a grid penalty in the last part of the Formula 1 season to be able to add new engine parts to his pool, although the Austrian is not too concerned.

With six race weekends left on the program, there is a good chance that the 2024 Formula 1 season will have a particularly exciting finale. Max Verstappen traveled to the United States with a 52-point lead over Lando Norris, but the McLaren driver has had a significantly better car for some time. It is therefore up to the Dutchman to defend his lead tooth and nail, while Norris has to get every available point out of the fire.

However, Verstappen may still be hampered by a grid penalty in the final phase of the season. The three-time world champion has used the maximum number of all his motorcycle parts or has already used more than that. A new substitution will therefore result in a penalty for him. Now that the teams at the forefront are so close to each other, it is not a piece of cake to get back to the podium places.
