Joris Guillot-Rosselot, 35, from the Carquefou Judo Club, chaired by Jean-Luc Lacarin, particularly distinguished himself during the European Cup in Portugal, at the beginning of October, in the seniors category under 90 kg.
You are the Portuguese European Cup senior champion, what type of competition is it?
This is a European international circuit competition, where judokas from all over the world can participate. At the start of the season, the goal is to quickly get back into rhythm in high-level competitions, in order to prepare for future chances.
Was the competition of a high level?
Judokas from the top 50 were present in the category, so the level was high, but not at all at the level of the Olympics which took place this summer.
Is this your first title?
It’s my first medal and my first title in a European Cup. It was my second international competition in my new weight category and I got chills when I sang The Marseillaise on the podium.
How long have you been at the Carquefou club?
I am starting my second season at JC Carquefou. I was also a teacher at an alliance club (Alliance Judo Erdre 44) a few years ago, so it’s like a return to a familiar club, where a good family spirit reigns.
What are your goals?
My short-term sporting goals are the French championships on November 4, a big challenge in a new category. After being vice-champion of France in – 81 kg in 2019, I am going to try the adventure among the strongest. I hope to promote the club and the region.
