Tashkent, 17 October 2024 – It’s a splendid Italy of Judo at the Military World Championships in Tashkent. The Azzurri won six medals, including one gold and five bronze.
Giorgia Stangherlin won the world title in the 70 kg. Third place went to Linda Police nei 78 kg, Erica Simonetti +78 kg, Giacomo Gamba in the 81 kg, Tiziano Falcone in the 90 kg ed Enrico Bergamelli nei 100 kg.

“I am extremely proud of these guys –said Luigi Guido– everyone had a wonderful race, an excellent performance in a complicated, difficult race, full of athletes of a certain level. They were all really good, applause to everyone, especially to Giorgia Stangherlin who won in this new category, beating an expert athlete like Anka Pogacnik in the final. He won the match by a landslide, three penalties, but really very well, fighting well. Just like the others, even when they lost a match they always fought very well and when they fight well I am very happy. I hope to repeat today’s performance in the team competition tomorrow and finally I offer my heartfelt congratulations, also accompanied by a bit of emotion, to Linda Politi who today was her last race”.

“Today was an emotional day, –Linda Politi said– mutual decision between me and the Arma technical staff who have been following me for 9 years, this was the last race of my career (then in reality tomorrow there will be the team race… But in short it was individual today). I am happy to have achieved this medal, even if I would have liked to have done better in the semi-final.
