Stadtallendorf: Fire at the fire station in Stadtallendorf

On October 16, 2024, there was a fire in the Stadtallendorf fire department’s vehicle hall, which destroyed the fire engines standing there. The fire was discovered by residents. There was no fire alarm system.

At around 6:15 a.m. there were no more flames to be seen, but it was still being extinguished from all sides. The house was being cleaned up around 7 p.m. and the emergency services had left by late evening.

The next day, many citizens took the opportunity to take a look at the damage. Instead of fire engines glowing red, there were only black and gray skeletons.

How intense the heat was during the fire was shown by some garbage containers standing by the fence, the fronts of which had melted away. The same thing happened with a sign on the tower. The climbing elements have probably survived the heat, but no longer have the colors that are still bright in summer. The doors that cover the ladder, which allows access, have also become discolored.

The Main-Weser Railway was temporarily closed due to the fire. At 6:15 there were numerous passengers waiting on the platform.
At around 6:30 a freight train passed through. The RE30 to Kassel, which left at 6:36 a.m., drove quite according to plan. The RB41 to Frankfurt, which actually leaves at 5:29, left around 6:40. The RE30 to Frankfurt, scheduled for 6:15, arrived about five minutes later. The RB41 scheduled for 6:29 failed.

On June 22, 2024 there was the opportunity to take a look at the fire station at an open day.
