The Piedmont junior/senior judo grand prix took place on Sunday 13 October at the PalaMaggiore in Volpiano (To), which saw judocas from all over Italy, including the islands, compete.

Over 300 athletes competing and defending the colors of the Judo Club Castellanza D’Alessandro Francesco and Matteo
Montorfano. First to compete was D’Alessandro Francesco in the 73 kg limit category. Nice and tight match against Di Stefano Alessandro from Bergamo who in the end however saw the athlete from Castellanza come out defeated.

Matteo Montorfano is competing in the +100kg category. Three matches played to reach the podium. In the first Matteo competes with Di Maio Christian from Campania, winning in ippon, he gets distracted in the second against the strong Lazio player Palumbo Andrea and loses the chance to go to the final for gold, but makes up for it in the final for bronze by winning against the Tuscan Pirodda Jacopo.

Satisfaction (and a hint of bitterness in the mouth) on the part of the technicians present for the good result achieved, with their eyes already turned towards the Italian A2 Cup final scheduled for next October 26th in Lignano Sabbiadoro which will see Montorfano among the protagonists in the race .
