City Council and Chiclana Ituci Basketball Club sign a protocol for a social inclusion project with minors

Fifty minors will participate in this initiative, which promotes autonomy and helps control character, as well as promoting self-esteem and self-confidence.

The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, and the president of the Chiclana Ituci Basketball Club, David Forero, have signed a collaboration protocol for the social inclusion project through basketball. An event in which the municipal delegate of Social Services, Francis Salado, as well as members of the club, have also been present.
“Thank you to the Chiclana Ituci Basketball Club for its involvement in this initiative, which continues the editorial line of this City Council of working for integration,” said the mayor, who highlighted that, “through basketball, we are going to develop a similar project.” to which surfing has already been practiced, generating a space for coexistence and integration, which would surely be more complicated otherwise.” “If, through this protocol, we can help around 50 young people, we can only thank the club for its effort in this project, which adds up to ensuring that no young person is alone,” he commented.
For his part, David Forero thanked the Chiclana City Council for “having welcomed this initiative that we proposed some time ago, with which we intend for children to always be practicing sports.” “Initially there will be 50 children that we will welcome, but the intention is for there to be more, so that all the children can play sports, which is something healthy and productive, giving continuity to the project that began with surfing and that we hope will continue with other sports modalities,” he expressed.
This project consists of giving fifty minors access to playing basketball so that it helps them develop balance, activate reflexes and stimulates better motor coordination, being also beneficial for physical development. It also allows you to improve concentration and develop eye-hand coordination, learning to drive the ball to the basket and, at the same time, moving with the greatest agility.
From a more emotional point of view, basketball is a sport in which a healthy coexistence is created between children, promoting the development of friendships and teamwork. In addition, it promotes autonomy, helps control character, learn to accept frustration and, at the same time, promotes self-esteem and self-confidence.
The City Council is interested in supporting the social issues of the town and especially the protection of groups that promote social integration and other problems that occur in family contexts, for which it supports the creation and maintenance of prevention programs. and intervention that allow minors full development.
For its part, CB Chiclana Ituci has as one of its main objectives the promotion of physical activity, healthy living habits and environmental education among young people, putting all its facilities and means at the service of the community to, in this way, help achieve established objectives.
