Football Nfl: Denver vince a New Orleans nel Thursday Night

Game dominated by Denver, coached by the home team’s former coach. Two rushing touchdowns by Williams seal the Saints’ 5th straight defeat

October 18 – 08:31 – MILANO

New Orleans is always his home. Sean Payton wins at the Superdome once more, this time as an opponent, as Denver’s coach on Thursday Night which opened the seventh NFL day. The Broncos in Louisiana dominate the home Saints 33-10. Payton, who coached in New Orleans from 2006 to 2021, winning the Super Bowl in 2010 and accumulating 161 hits for the Big Easy franchise, has not lost his magic, moving elsewhere. Denver improves to 4-3 record, a surprise at the start of the season. She doesn’t have big names, but she is well trained. It matters. The Saints on the other hand are a disaster. They lose for the fifth time in a row, after the 2-0 at the ready, and coach Dennis Allen, Payton’s former assistant, risks his job.

It was the challenge between first-year quarterbacks: Bo Nix did less worse than Spencer Rattler, who was terrible, but playing well is another thing. It takes time, at least he hasn’t committed any turnovers: he will grow. For now, however, Denver wins despite him, rather than thanks to him. The Saints made the wrong replacement quarterback for the injured Carr: Jake Haener entered for the last offensive drive and in a few games he did better than Rattler throughout the rest of the game.

The man of the match is running back Javonte Williams, who ran for 88 yards and scored two touchdowns. But the offensive line is the department to be applauded: it opens gaps for the game on the ground, from 225 yards, and protects Nix, who does not suffer a sack. The defense, without the injured Pat Surtain, doesn’t show off who knows what stars, yet it does well, forcing two Rattler fumbles, one returned to the end zone by Cody Barton, the best of the department this time. Nix appears to be Taysom Hill, the Saints’ quarterback/tight end/running back, who was unavailable for the occasion. Impressive when he runs, but with every throw he gives his fans shivers.

dolori saints

There is little to save. There are justifications for the debacle, there are many injured people, too many. The Saints were without Carr and Hill, and without Olave and Shaahee (season over), the best receivers. The attack line was reshuffled and Rattler was in his second game as a starter in his career, perhaps his last. The Saints lost their best defensive back, Marshon Lattimore, during the match and their other cornerback, Adebo, even ended up in the hospital. But the fool remains the same. Offense, defense, coaches’ calls: nothing worked. Except for Haener, who wasn’t even supposed to play, but who was sent onto the field due to a pain suffered by Rattler, and immediately found Cedric Wilson in the end zone.

the match

Wil Lutz, Payton’s former Saints kicker, scores the first points with the 46-yard kick. Barton then forces a Rattler fumble, Lutz extends the lead to 6-0. Williams then runs into the end zone for the touchdown to make it 13-0. Blake Grupe, the kicker, gives the first points to New Orleans. He would have the opportunity to get back under, but Ty Mathieu eats an interception on an absurd throw from Nix and Lutz takes advantage of it to set the score at 16-3 at halftime. Denver has already run for 108 yards. Drew Brees, the legendary former Saints quarterback, is inducted into the franchise Hall of Fame midway through the game. He would be needed… At the beginning of the second half Williams scores the second rushing touchdown, the Broncos’ defense completes the party with Barton’s 52-yard fumble return in the end zone after a big mess by Rattler. Yet another.
