Another medal for Italy a Tashkenton the third day of CISMarrived with the women’s team ranked third in the military sports world championships. The men’s team is fifth.
It’s a nice third place for the women’s Italy team who won the first round against Kazakhstan “thanks to Erica Simonetti‘s success in the key match with Kamila Berlikash, – she says Luigi Guido– already defeated in the individual competition, but still remains a highly ranked athlete in the world. Unfortunately there was nothing to be done with France. They fought better, they prevailed and that’s okay. Then with Algeria, who had three weights, we started with a 2-0 advantage and Giorgia Stangherlin, after yesterday’s tension, went up unloaded and went down, then Erica Simonetti got to two equal penalties with the 78 but she managed to do wazari at the golden score and so it was joy. We lacked a bit of energy, after an individual race it’s always tough, but it was nice nonetheless. The men’s team started well, defeating both Saudi Arabia and Iran 3-0, who finished in third place beating Korea. Then they faced Uzbekistan in the semi-finals and when they reached 2-2 the key match was that of Carletti. Taking into account that we have two 100 kg who have been lined up with two heavyweights… among other things, Uzbekistan has completely changed the team which, according to CISM regulations, should present the same athletes that you presented in the individual competition. In any case, Carletti tried in every way, always attacking, just like Bergamelli himself in the bronze final with Kazakhstan… they tried, they really fought well. It’s a real shame, because there were two errors in judgment and due to details they lost the matches. Objectively, we could have won against Kazakhstan, but it was a 50/50 match. Well done, all the guys were really good because they really fought, they expressed quality, class and they competed with everyone. And this is something that, even today, makes me extremely proud.”
