Catania, illegally held 45 war ammunition at home: 17-year-old reported

Illegally possessed ammunition

In recent days, the State Police found 45 war ammunition illegally held by a minor in his home in the San Cristoforo district. The intervention resulted from an investigative activity involving the agents of the Flying Squad of the Catania Police Headquarters.

Once on site, the police proceeded to carry out a house search to check in particular for the presence of weapons and ammunition. The ones who opened the doors of the house were a 17-year-old young man and his mother, both from Catania.

The intuitions of the agents of the General Prevention and Public Relief Office proved to be well founded since it was possible to find the 7.62 caliber war ammunition inside a bag, hidden in a mezzanine. The ammunition was seized and the young man took responsibility for what he discovered and told the police that he had found the ammunition in a dilapidated room near his home.

After informing the PM on duty of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, the 17-year-old was reported, while at liberty, for illegal possession of ammunition.
